"Yooper,” a native or resident of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - which us yoopers call the UP. Yup, I'm a yooper (born in Marquette) and the next few posts will be coming to you from this far off land.
My first stop was a small county park just outside Ontonagon on the shores of Lake Superior - the greatest of the Great Lakes - where I did some walking on the beach.
"In winter we shovel snow and in summer we swat mosquitoes. During the spring and fall we rest up for swatting and shoveling".
